Leeds Playhouse Pop-Up theatre is now open: Road production images revealed
Leeds Playhouse’s Pop-Up theatre is now open with Jim Cartwright’s 1986 seminal play Road.
Production images reveal the ensemble company explode into front rooms, pubs and fish and chip shops throughout a raucous night out on an unnamed Northern street.
Directed by Leeds Playhouse Associate Director Amy Leach (Romeo & Juliet, Queen of Chapeltown, Leeds Playhouse) and designed by Hayley Grindle (Romeo & Juliet, Leeds Playhouse), Road presents a powerful observation of the everyday lives of the working classes with humour, determination and passion.
Road is the first production performed in the Playhouse’s newly opened Pop-Up theatre, a temporary 350 seat theatre housing a year-long programme of work whilst the main building undergoes major refurbishment.
All performances of Road feature fully integrated Audio Description performed live by members of the company.
Road at Leeds Playhouse plays in the Pop-Up theatre from now until Saturday 29 September.
