IDAHOBiT 2018: Angels of Freedom
Thursday 17 May 2018 marks this year’s International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) which represents a landmark date to draw the attention of the public, the media, decision makers and local authorities to the worrying situation that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are confronted with across the globe.
17 May is now celebrated in more than 130 countries. These mobilisations unite millions of people in support of the recognition of human rights for all, irrespective of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
The date of 17 May was specifically chosen to commemorate the World Health Organisation’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.
We're teaming up with British Transport Police to host this information marketplace in the departure lounge area of the station, and supported by other community groups to promote opportunities to get involved in various projects and find out more about work being undertaken in Leeds on LGBT+ Inclusion.
Come along any time between 5.30pm & 8.30pm for a chat with us!
