The Leeds Big Sleep first ran in 2017. It is a collaborative fundraising event which involves local business leaders, Leeds residents, Leeds Rhinos players and members of the participating charities coming together to spend a night out in the terraces at Emerald Headingley Stadium to raise much needed money for the Leeds vulnerable communities.

All three charities are also excited to be to be shortlisted for the Fundraising Partnership of the Year Award at the 2019 Institute of Fundraising (IoF) Yorkshire Awards. The nomination is in recognition of the 2018 Leeds Big Sleep which raised £32,000.

Cheryl Harrington, Head of Fundraising, at St George’s Crypt said:

‘The atmosphere was really fun and everyone enjoyed themselves but it really made me think; it was so cold on the night and it hit home what our clients must feel every night. We are really happy that so many businesses across the city got involved and hope that this year we get more CEO’s and corporate groups to raise even more money for these very local causes.’

Commenting on the event Gareth Cook, Leeds Rhinos Foundation Head of Community and Engagement, said:

‘We are delighted to be hosting the ‘Leeds Big Sleep’ again in 2019, following on from the fantastic event in 2018 that raised over £32,000 split between the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, St Georges Crypt and St Gemma’s Hospice. This year we aim to top this figure and would like to encourage companies to take part as a corporate team builder whilst raising vital funds for three very worthy causes that give so much back to the city of Leeds.

Participation is aimed at individuals and corporate teams with a sponsorship target of £100 per person. If you want to join in contact Cheryl at the Crypt on 07887564519 or Cheryl.harrington@stgeorgescrypt.org.u
