AWARD-WINNING REUTERS JOURNALISTS JOIN PHOTO NORTH FESTIVAL

Organisers of the first ever international Photo North festival, taking place in Harrogate from November 9-11 are pleased to announce Reuters global photojournalists are the latest to sign up to the festival, with the aim of inspiring the next generation of image makers with portfolio reviews and motivational, inspirational presentations over the three-day event.

Reuters award-winning photojournalists explore important stories and diverse cultures through captivating images and visual storytelling, covering a variety of assignments from sports, fashion and daily life to society, politics and conflict. Reporting from nearly 200 locations, their global network of 600 photographers produces over 1,600 news images each day, offering a unique window into the world by capturing the essence, authenticity and significance of international events.

Festival Director, Peter Dench, said, “This major international name is another great occasion to visit Photo North and we know the public will be enthralled with the magnitude and significance of ethical image capture in shaping our understanding of the world, our culture and social climate.”

Senior Reporter, Yannis Behrakis, from Reuters said “In the global 24/7 fast-news environment, the demand for authentic and high-quality images has never been more crucial. Photo North will offer upcoming photojournalists an invaluable take on their existing work, with some extraordinary shots and the stories they tell providing fuel to better understand what separates professional photojournalism from more ubiquitous photography.”

Reuters joins a sensational line-up that includes iconic names Tom Stoddart, Jane Hilton, Tom Oldham, Paula Bronstein, Jenny Matthews and Anastasia Taylor Lind.

Brought together in a single venue in the spa town of Harrogate, UK, a back drop of street food vendors, live music and licensed bars will play host to exhibitions, book zine stalls, photo walks, portrait salons, workshops, portfolio reviews, screenings and live chats, all championing photography and open to the public for the
three-day festival.
