Your History Your Story.jpg

Join us for a special screening of three Your Story, Our History films, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act in 1967 which decriminalised homosexuality and transformed the lives of people in the LGBTQ+ community.

Jake, Nadine and Tia, Geoff and Peter tell their personal stories about the positive effect this Act and subsequent equality legislation has had on their lives. Discover how laws passed in the UK Parliament have changed society and impacted on individuals and communities.

The screening is followed by a talk exploring how the UK Parliament works and how you can get involved on the issues you’re passionate about. Wherever you live, no matter who you are, the laws passed by the UK Parliament affect and shape all areas of your life.

This event will empower you to get involved with the decisions being made in the UK Parliament and get your voice heard. In addition to the film screening, you’ll find out:

  • what the UK Parliament is and what it does
  • how laws are made
  • how the UK Parliament and checks and challenges the Government
  • how to contact MPs and Members of the House of Lords, and more about what they do
  • the difference between Parliament and Government

There are limited places, available on a first come, first served basis. Places are non-transferable.
