Diversity in Sport - Hunters in Harrogate
On Wednesday May 17th, Pride in Diversity will be hosting an evening at The Crown Hotel in Harrogate for ‘Diversity in Sport’. This event will bring together players and supporters from a range of sports for an opportunity to engage with both well-known names and local teams.
The Leeds Hunters, Yorkshire’s premier LGBT+ inclusive Rugby Union team, will be there next week and we are excited to let people know who we are and perhaps tempt some people into giving rugby union a go. The Chair of the team Rob Wilson will be giving a presentation on who we are, how we established ourselves and what we’ve managed to achieve with the support we have been given. Other team members will be present throughout the evening and happy to talk to anyone, whether they wish to get involved in any way they can or are just interested in what we do.
Other guest speakers include Head of Communications for Harrogate Town Football Club Daniel McGeachie, the previous Equality and Diversity Manager for Rugby Football League Sarah Williams MBE, Professor Gough of Leeds Beckett University and Kellie Maloney, manager for the undisputed Heavyweight Boxing champion Lennox Lewis. This evening promises to be engaging and entertaining for everyone, regardless of sporting background and is not to be missed.
Along with this exciting evening, The Hunters are also planning to make an appearance the following Saturday 20th at Pride in the Park, the highlight of the week celebrating diversity in the community. Once again we will be looking forward to meeting anyone interested in our team and hopefully will see a number of new members and supporters attending our training sessions.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible this coming Wednesday at The Crown Hotel in Harrogate. The event will be starting at 7pm (doors opening at 6:30pm) and we can’t wait to meet everyone who comes.
