World Cup Winner at the Wardrobe

Ossie Ardiles, who won the World Cup in 1978 with Argentina, will be in Leeds at the end of this month for a special ‘Evening With…’ football fans event at The Wardrobe.

Ossie, full name Osvaldo César Ardiles, became a fans’ favourite in England during the 1980s when he played for Tottenham Hotspur, famously predicting he was going to “win the cup for Tottingham”.

His mispronunciation was etched into the nation’s conscience after it was used in a Chas & Dave song – Ossie's Dream (Spurs Are on Their Way to Wembley) – to commemorate Spurs reaching the FA Cup Final in 1981.  True to the Argentinian’s prediction, Spurs went on to win the Final 3-2.

The event will also feature another Spurs legend and UEFA Cup Winner, Micky Hazard.

A limited number of tickets remain for the ‘Evening With…’ event which takes place at The Wardrobe, Leeds on Saturday 24 March at 7pm.  Tickets, which cost £30 and include a hot buffet, are available by emailing or by phone: 07956 482 639
