Phil Mitchell: Sharing my story of rape, abuse and sexual exploitation
Phil is a qualified, experienced and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist. Phil specialises in working with male abuse and since 2004 he has worked therapeutically with boys and men affected by rape, sexual abuse, sexual violence and sexual exploitation. Phil is a survivor of sexual abuse/exploitation and an experienced public speaker/ Phil has trained thousands of professionals across the country on male sexual abuse/exploitation and has contributed to various research and publications. Phil is also a qualified supervisor and since 2012 he has provided supervision to qualified and trainee counsellors, and also to other practitioners working with children and adults in high-risk situations.
Due to a large number of requests Phil will be sharing his story across Yorkshire during April 2018. This is a hard-hitting one-hour event where Phil shares his story of rape, abuse and sexual exploitation, addresses the difficulties that boys and men face in disclosing abuse and explores how masculinity plays a part.
